We finally moved into our new home with only our suitcases and a blow-up matress. It is a very cosy little place and are happy here for the time being. We live in Torbay on the North Shore, a beautiful area close to the sea, with a bit of a holiday feeling. This is where all the work really started, with organising phone, power, internet etc.

2 months after packing up the container in South Africa, it finally arrived in New Zealand. 3 big Mauri guys did the whole thing in about 2 hours. I was stunned at the power of these guys - the things they would lift up all by themselves was frightening. Really decent, friendly people too. It was very comforting having all our familiar belongings around us again and made us feel a little more settled. It was here that the reality of our move really hit me.

We had a picnic at Shakespear Regional Park, yet another picturesque part of the country. The seagulls and these little birds that look just like Mossies (must be the same bird) were fighting for any food we left unattended. The water was so clear on the day and if you see all the boats on the water, I think this is where I first started becoming keen to get a boat.

On the 20th February I started my new job with APS (Advanced Professional Solutions). It has been tough going, but I am learning a lot and gaining valuable experience. I have had to adjust, as my salary is not as good as it was in South Africa. The office is in Auckland city and situated on one of the steepest hills in the city. I have also had to contend with heavy traffic, which I thought I was getting rid of.... it's no different.
