I started a new job with one of the top banks here in New Zealand called ASB. Now although I have worked for a big company before, I have never worked in such a large IT setup. Being so big, in order to keep control of things, there are a lot of policies & procedures so that has taken some getting used to, but having so many projects on the go, the experience gained should be great. There is a lot to be learnt! The building I work in is called C:Drive and it is very modern inside, although on the outside it just looks like a big warehouse. I have added some photos of C:Drive to give you an idea...

A friend of mine, Dieter, said he was doing an off-road run the following weekend and suggested that I do it too, so I did. It was great; we never tried to do any record times and in the beginning, it was slow going as everyone had to run on the same single track. The run was 6.4 kms through the Woodhill forest on the west coast of Auckland. I really want to start doing more events like this. Through winter I have tried to maintain a balance of gym and running, despite the ever dropping temperatures and so far it hasn’t gone too badly, but there is still some shaping up to be done. Unfortunately my discipline on the eating side of things is not always that good… I hope to get some skiing done as well this winter and that is always good exercise.
Ingrid was a Guns & Roses fan in her youth days and when we heard they were coming to town, we thought it was time to go to another concert. It was very good. I must say I was very impressed that Axel Rose could still reach those high notes and that Guns & Roses could still Rock the way they did! It was a bit of a late night as first a band called Rose Tattoo from Australia played. Then Sebastian Bach, who apparently tours with G&R, took the stage – now even though he had a good voice, this guy was really annoying. Before the concert we met up with Richard and Kayo for a meal at a Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately we had different seats at the concert and after scanning the stadium, I spotted them on the exact opposite side to us (don’t ask me how I managed that, it was far!). All in all it was a fun night out.
